I am a fully qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist based in Bristol West. I offer a constructive, grounded approach in a safe and confidential environment, with the aim of helping people to explore and gain clarity on various aspects of their lives, to resolve problems and to find new ways forward.
I work with people on a wide range of issues. These may be specific and definable such as problems with moods and emotions; difficulties in relationships; addictive and compulsive behaviours; obsessive thinking; problems of personality; coming to terms with change and loss; decisions and dilemmas etc.
People also bring problems that are more difficult to define - a sense of confusion about their lives and about who they are, a lack of direction, a loss of meaning or joy in living, difficulties in relating to others, or concerns about identity or sexuality.
In recent years, I have also specialised in working with problematic sexual behaviours and preoccupations. I have undertaken training in sexual addictions and compulsivity and in working with those who are at risk of committing sexual offences or have done so. I offer a confidential service for people who may be worried about aspects of their sexual thoughts and behaviours.
My endeavour is to work with each person who comes to see me in a way that respects who they are and their situation in life. I acknowledge that everyone who comes to counselling or therapy brings with them a unique set of circumstances, background, values and beliefs; and I endeavour to ensure that this sets the framework for the work we do together.

If you are interested in making an initial appointment or if you have any questions about the service I offer, you can email me or phone me on 078 495 19 277. When I am working, my phone is switched off; if you go through to my voicemail, please leave your first name and contact details. I will get back to you as soon as I can.
The first meeting is an opportunity to talk over the issues and for you to decide if you would like to work with me. It does not commit you to anything further and I will usually suggest that you take a couple of days to think it over.
I normally contract for a fixed number of sessions at first, normally six (this does not mean that you are committed to six sessions, however). This allows us a reasonable period of time to see if the process is helpful to you. We review progress on the sixth session and decide whether or not to continue with further sessions.
Meetings are generally weekly and over the years I have found this to be the best frequency, but this can sometimes be altered if necessary.
